I was just a rank and file publisher, so I don't really know the ins and outs of a CO visit and its implications. Ex-elders: how effective were your CO's at enforcing Mother's wishes? Did you just give the right image for that week and then move on?
Also, did they enforce their own ideas, or were they Society men?
I'm trying to figure out how much enforcement/control CO's currently afford the Society.

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

most random scripture citation EVER
by veradico indid you ever notice, particularly in unimportant filler articles, that sometimes the writers of the society's publications cited scriptures which had very little to do with the subject at hand?
i'm not talking about the misleading use of scriptures, that is, when they would perpetrate amazing feats of eisegesis.
i'm talking about when they cited scriptures just because they felt like the sentence needed to end with a citation.

Did you find worldly people as bad as the JW's made them out to be??
by karter inas a jw we were always told worldly people were bad always out for what they could get out of you.
as for me iv'e made some good friends not anything as bad as the jw's said they woul'd be.

"as bad"? With respect, I don't think the question is a valid one. People do not have a degree of badness because they are not JW's. There are good and bad people everywhere.
The only person in my life (apart from those here at JWD, of course) who can come anywhere near to understanding me is "a worldly person". And the world can be a great place - I've met several nice people in my area. -

Could go either way. I got my hopes up about an inactive couple, but it turned out they were still deluded. Another friend wasn't.
Go careful, and all the best. I like your proposed approach. Remember you can always say more another time, but can't take things back. -

PROPHECY
by winnower inas i told you in a previous post, there would be a catalyst event in may that would cause some very serious and dire consequences to unfold very quickly in a chain of events.
how terrible for you, babylon, city of power!
if you don't have one you will no longer be able to participate in society.

I'm going to miss out on your terribly important message, all because you didn't manage to include the paragraph breaks (I can't read solid blocks that big - I get dizzy).
If this means I die through not having a warning, you'll be bloodguilty. -

How do you handle ... being shunned?
by Awakened at Gilead inmy da announcement was last tuesday, so i have been on the official jw shun list for about a week now.... i am curious how you handle shunning.my situation:.
i have spoken with my family (my parents and 1 brother) and discussed whether they will shun me.
i explained that biblically they should not shun me since i am not an antichrist, and i have not rejected the teaching that jesus cam in the flesh.

I'm not DF'ed and didn't DA, so I'm not actually shunned. But I moved away to avoid the possibility. So nothing to share with how to handle it, but you sound like you're doing great under the circumstances. I'm very glad your Mum and step Dad still communicate with you, and hope your brother will, too. Go easy on him and try not to appear like you're on any other side to him, I guess.
And yes, those who are inactive or DA'ed who are still under the delusion it's truth - grief, what a mind f***. :( -

Is this new? WT says that JESUS resurrects.
by ozziepost inyep, on the "official" wt site, there's an article on grieving and a photo caption that reads:.
bible accounts show that jesus has the power and the desire to bring children back to life.
